Sotiris (on the left) is 8 years old and used to live at the harbor in Keramoti before he found his way to us. He’s a gentle giant with a heart of gold - he adores children and is completely devoted to his best friend Peggy the cat. Strange dogs? Not really his thing. And if you're not watching closely, he'll happily sneak a few bites of the cats’ food. But with those big eyes and sweet soul, it’s hard to stay mad for long.
Our sweet Xara (on the right) is about 17 years old and still going strong! Xara has been with us for 8 years now. When she was found, she was in terrible condition—abandoned and sick on the streets. She was later diagnosed with leishmaniasis, but that didn’t stop her from fighting her way back to life. Today, she’s thriving. Her favorite thing in the world? Cuddles. Lots and lots of cuddles.
Mikado (on the left) came to us when he was 2 years old - now he’s 8, and he’s our resident clown. Always curious and eager to learn, Mikado brings energy and joy to every day. He was gently and patiently started under saddle, and this year he’s begun working with children and teens - and he absolutely loves the attention!
Pepsi (on the right) is around 7 years young, and he’s an absolute sweetheart. He loves cuddles. He can be a bit shy when it comes to new experiences, which is why he's currently not being ridden. But he absolutely loves groundwork - it's where he shines. Also... let’s just say he’s the biggest foodie in the whole herd. If there’s food around, Pepsi’s not far behind.
Lila is our youngest donkey - just 3 years old and full of curiosity! She loves exploring new things and is always eager to learn.
But more than anything, she enjoys a good grooming session. If there's a brush in sight, Lila’s already waiting!
Marko is around 10 years old and the calmest of all our donkeys. But don’t be fooled - when it’s playtime with Freddy and Lila, he can really let crazy!
Marko has a gentle heart, especially when it comes to children. He absolutely loves going on little trail rides.
Freddy is our cheeky little donkey stallion, about 8 years old. Curious, playful & full of personality. He is incredibly lovable and gentle, especially with children.
His best buddy? Marko! They love to play together!
One day, we heard a faint noise coming from the horses’ feed trough. To our surprise, we discovered a tiny kitten - no older than three weeks -curled up inside. Someone had abandoned her there during the night.
We named her Peggy. She was bottle-fed with kitten formula every few hours. Now, just a few weeks later, she’s thriving and happily munching on her wet food like a little champion.
These three wonderful kittens came to us through ThassosCats, a wonderful organisation who take care of many stray cats on Thassos.
The three little ones will stay with us until October, as they will then travel to their forever home in Germany. Peggy now has more than enough friends to play with and is very happy!
Now we take care that all the kittens will be healthy, vaccinated, and once they are old enough, of course, they will be neutered.
Many cats come to us at night to eat, but the ones who are here almost all the time are Leo, Elsa, Blindi, Clooney, Mimi and Peter.
You’ll often find them lounging in a shady spot, but they never say no to a cuddle.
Of course, all of our cats are neutered, and we also do our best to catch and neuter the wild ones.
